A paper for Fairview, by people who live here

The Fairviewian is a local paper for Fairview, Tennessee. It is put together by a group of community members and volunteers, not by a media company, and it exists because a town this size deserves somewhere its news actually lives.

What we cover

What happens in Fairview. School events and scores, city meetings and notices, road closures and weather warnings, businesses opening and changing hands, and the fundraisers, suppers and clean-ups that a town runs on. If it happens here and somebody would want to know, it belongs here.

How it gets here

Some of it arrives on its own. The paper reads the city's own announcements, the school calendars, the National Weather Service and Bowie Nature Park directly, so a closure or a warning does not depend on anybody being awake to notice it.

The rest is people. Something posted in a community group, a flyer on a noticeboard, a neighbour mentioning that a shop has opened. That gets written up and checked before it appears.

Software helps with the sorting and the drafting, which is how one small volunteer paper keeps up with a whole town. Nothing reaches a reader without a person reading it first, with one deliberate exception: official National Weather Service warnings go straight up, because a warning that waits for approval has already stopped being useful.

Getting it wrong

We will, sometimes. If something here is wrong, tell us and it gets fixed rather than quietly left. That is the whole policy. Get in touch.

The paper carries local sponsors, and anything paid for is labelled as such wherever it appears. We do not sell your personal information, and we never have. What we collect and why is set out in the privacy policy.

If you have something the town should know, or you want to help put this together, say so. It is a volunteer paper and it gets better the more people are in it.
